Swiss manufacturer Schertler has added the JAM series of compact amplifiers to its acoustic amplification range (which also includes the Unico and David Deluxe and Classic series). Formerly branded by SR Technology, the updated Schertler JAM series adds a cost-effective, all-round option to the manufacturer’s quality range of amplifiers, which are designed for a variety of performance applications.
The updated compact 6″/1″ JAM 100 offers 100 watts of power, three independent channels (mic and line) and a digital reverb. The reverb has been updated for a more harmonious effect and more extensive usage. With 150 watts of bi-amplified power, the 8″/1″ JAM 150 is already a live performance favourite. Its onboard mixer enables simultaneous on-stage use of several instruments, offering XLR inputs with phantom power, send/return effects and EQ on all channels. The JAM 150 can also be used as a stage monitor, mounted on Schertler’s S1 monitor stand.
For more demanding performance requirements, the JAM 400 offers 400 watts of output via 2 x 8″ woofers and a 1″ horn. It includes a number of advanced features such as switchable subwoofer output, variable anti-feedback control, phantom power and multiple digital effects. A range of XLR, jack and phono inputs provide complete versatility and the potential for solo artists and small ensembles to perform with just a single lightweight amplifier.
The amps will be available in a choice of wood or grey finishes. UK prices range from £599 to £1315 (inc VAT).

New solid wood diffusion panel scatters unwanted room reflections and controls sound energy
Portuguese acoustic solutions manufacturer Vicoustic has just released Multi Fuser Wood, a new diffusion panel designed to bring both acoustic efficiency and elegance to a range of listening spaces. Made from solid wood, the new diffuser is perfect for use in venues such as concert halls, hi-fi rooms and recording studios, where effective diffusion is often required without too much absorption occurring at the same time. With its striking angled surface, the two-dimensional diffuser is based on a QRD sequence combined with changing reflection techniques (a result of the angled surface).
The panel itself is made in two parts. Each part can be rotated in different directions so that an even, omni-directional scattering of sound is achieved, with particularly effective diffusion of mid and low frequencies. Multi Fuser Wood is available in two versions covering different frequency ranges: Multi Fuser Wood 36 works between 470Hz and 10kHz, while Multi Fuser Wood 64 works between 310Hz and 8kHz.
As well as its acoustic efficiency, the panel’s attractive appearance makes it suitable for use in a range of settings. Available in Light Brown, Black and White finishes.

Sound on Sound have published a review of the Preceptor and Compactor compressors, describing the Preceptor as a seriously impressive musical tool.
The full review is available here. (sadly, behind a paywall)
"The Preceptor is a very versatile solid‐state compressor‐limiter, built to exacting standards, and it should earn its keep in a mastering suite as well as in a music studio. Equally at home controlling individual sources, smoothing mix buses or polishing a master, this is a very accomplished product indeed, and with bonus features to make it interesting. The Compactor is of the same excellent quality, so although its functionality is slightly more limited, it should prove very attractive for tracking and
mix‐bus processing."
We have the very unit that was reviewed available for demo so please call us to make arrangements.
Excitement abounds at Quiteloud Central today as we took delivery of our first Generic Audio Preceptor. We will be arranging demos of this amazing piece of kit over the next few weeks.
If you would like to try it out please drop us a line on 0333 088 3609 or contact@quiteloud.com.
